Turkish Airlines (THY) has selected GE’s CF6-80E1 engines to power its fleet of 15 firm Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Delivery will begin next year.
THY has also signed a 12-year OnPointSM solutions agreement for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its new CF6-80E1 engines.
The total engine order and OnPoint agreement is valued at more than $ 1 billion (USD).
Temel Kotil, Turkish Airlines’ CEO said, „As THY readies for another round of intercontinental expansion, we have chosen aircraft and engines that are proven, reliable and will further enhance the travel experience on Turkish Airlines.”

With a fleet of 200 aircraft, THY is the major airline in Turkey operating routes to Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. In 2011, Turkish Airlines carried about 33 million passengers and was named the 2012 best airline in Europe by Skytrax.
