Alenia Aermacchi and Casale’s Aero Club “N.S.I. Palli” have recently signed an agreement to allow the C-27J to perform demonstrations and operational training on 1,150 meter grass runway at Casale Monferrato’s “Francesco Cappa” airport, in the Piedmont Region, Italy.
“The C-27J is the only aircraft of its category designed as a true tactical transport military aircraft,” says Marco Venanzetti, Alenia Aermacchi’s Head of Flight Operations and Training “and for this role it is essential to have the capability of operating on unprepared landing strips, made of gravel, sand or grass. The use of a runway just a few-minutes-flight from Alenia Aermacchi’s Turin-Caselle facility will greatly enhance our ability to train pilots and demonstrate the C-27J’s capabilities on unprepared surfaces to potential customers. Casale Monferrato is a perfect runway for this kind of activity”.
The C-27J has operated on semi-prepared runways in Europe, Asia, Middle East and in the Americas both at sea level and at high altitude and in all weather conditions, proving its robustness and operational flexibility.
